The lecture

When the patient is not improving, the answer is not always another adjustment.

REASSESS THE CASEKnow when to pause, review the reasoning, and change direction.
01Revisit the original complaint, diagnosis, and treatment objective
02Reassess joint sounds, mandibular movement, muscle findings, and appliance response
03Decide when to modify, discontinue, monitor, collaborate, or refer

This case-based lecture brings together the complete 2027 pathway. Dr. Bis will show dentists how to reassess a patient who continues to report pain, clicking, locking, headaches, changing contacts, or appliance discomfort despite apparently reasonable care.

The session focuses on revisiting the complaint, reviewing the appliance objective, reassessing jaw findings, reconsidering muscle and dental pain, and determining whether the treatment plan should be modified or stopped. Two or three practical cases will demonstrate where the reasoning changed and why the next step was different.

For dentists, this is the patient who keeps returning without clear progress. The goal is to create a more confident, structured way to step back, collect the right information, and make better decisions without losing patient trust.

Three clinical learning objectives.

01
