Explore Level 1 ↗Why BIS Institute exists
The treatment looks right. So why does the patient keep coming back?
A restoration is complete, but the bite still feels wrong. A patient reports jaw discomfort. Repeated adjustments are not giving you the answers you expected.
What else might the history, occlusion, muscles, and TMJ tell you? A structured examination helps reveal which findings need further investigation.
Learn to ask better questions, connect the records, and take practical clinical reasoning into Monday’s appointments.

Function-driven diagnosis
Teeth tell the story.
A wear facet or fractured cusp may be a clue, not a diagnosis. Learn a practical sequence for examining findings in context.
Recognize the signs
Look for wear, fracture lines, tooth position changes, and early functional concerns.
Connect the findings
Consider muscles, occlusion, and the TMJ together as part of a structured examination.
Build the diagnosis
Use patient history, clinical records, and appropriate imaging to clarify what matters.
Treat intentionally
Let the assessment guide restorative dentistry, appliances, referral, or further investigation.
