The lecture

The orthodontic finish may look acceptable. The system may still feel unstable.

LOOK BEYOND ALIGNMENTReview the finish, the function, and the patient's adaptation.
01Baseline versus post-treatment findings
02Symptoms, contacts, and bite instability
03Monitor, refine, investigate, collaborate, or refer

A patient may complete braces or clear-aligner treatment with acceptable alignment but still present with clicking, headaches, muscle guarding, insufficient posterior contact, an altered closing path, or difficulty adapting to the new occlusion.

This lecture focuses specifically on the patient after orthodontic treatment. Dr. Agatha Bis explains what to review once tooth movement is finished and how to compare baseline records with the post-treatment functional findings.

Explore when the issue may relate to settling, retention, muscular adaptation, joint instability, or another problem requiring investigation. Learn why another refinement may not always solve the problem, and how post-orthodontic symptoms may influence your next treatment-planning decision.

What you will learn

Three clinical learning objectives.

01

Compare baseline and post-treatment functional findings after braces or clear-aligner therapy.

02

Recognize symptoms that require more than routine orthodontic settling.

03

Decide whether to monitor, refine, investigate, collaborate, or refer.
